Who Can Volunteer?

Our artist docent program is very liberal. Our intent with this program is to allow the public to witness the creation of art.

As an artist docent, you are allowed to enter the park anytime you wish.  This time will count towards your monthly docent hours.

You may wander around the park and paint, sketch, draw, sculpt...create wherever you feel inspired. You are encouraged to interact with guests, but are not required to do so.

Demonstration Days- As an artist docent you may also participate in scheduled demonstration days. These are days that Gilroy Gardens will advertise to the public.

You will have an identifiable area, an additional docent on hand to assist, and signage indicating your participation as a demonstration artist.

This is a great opportunity for artists to hand out brochures, talk about your art if you wish, and collect names of interested art patrons - and more than that - you will have the opportunity to influence the next generation to fall in love with the beauty and creativity of art. Who knows what future creative genius you might inspire?

QUESTIONS?

Many of our docents are also artists who share their creative talents with park visitors on a regular basis.

Some of our docents are professional artists, while others are enthusiastic hobbyists. Each one brings a special gift of creativity to the Art in the Park program.
